Education and Awareness

Vascular Cures recognizes the importance of patient education and community awareness. While vascular diseases reach epidemic proportions, their silent, invisible manifestations make them easy to overlook.

Vascular Cures supports empowering patients to take better care of their health by providing educational materials, expanding Project Voice and maintain a growing social media presence.

In addition, we bring together stakeholders across vascular health for shared brainstorming about better ways to collaboratively solve unmet patient needs. In 2014, we hosted a Vascular Innovation Summit in San Francisco, bringing together leaders from 17 organizations representing healthcare providers, researchers, industry, investors and regulators. They identified the need for patient-reported outcomes data as a powerful way to improve both vascular research and healthcare decision-making. The outcome of these discussions was Project Voice, an innovative program focused on improving vascular outcomes through patient engagement.

In 2016, we hosted the inaugural annual Vascular Research Summit as a forum for leading vascular surgeon-scientists in North America to confidentially share ideas, resources and data. Fifty-six surgeon-scientists from 31 leading academic medical centers were convened to identify unmet scientific needs and launch the Collaborative Patient-Centered Research (CPCR) Grants Program. This new program is designed to stimulate high impact projects which are multi-institutional, create research assets that can be shared, and generate milestones within 1 – 2 years.

Vascular Cures will continue to engage innovators across the vascular eco-system identifying unmet needs and devising novel ways to transform the future of vascular health.
